Health Information Systems

The rapid provision of high-quality patient-specific health information is an important prerequisite to deliver effective and efficient healthcare services. Health information systems (e.g. hospital information systems, electronic health records, patient-centred systems, telemonitoring systems) help to support the information logistics in the health arena and thus contribute to the overall level of patient care.

Research focus and thesis topics include: analysis, modelling, design, introduction and evaluation of health information systems; eHealth and electronic health records; patient empowerment; ambient assisted living; information privacy and information security; medication safety and patient safety through IT; IT for health and social care; secondary analysis of clinical data; clinical registries.

The doctoral programme can be completed in German or English.
